校準溫度計
Thermometers have to be calibrated before use. To calibrate, for example, a liquid-in-glass thermometer on Celsius scale, it is first put in pure melting ice (lower fixed point) and then in boiling water (upper fixed point). The liquid level is marked in each case and the separation between the two markings is divided into 100 equal divisions. Then each division is 1 degree Celsius (1 °C).
