Earth wire

Earth wire is green/yellow in colour.

It is a safety wire which connects the metal body of an electrical appliance to the Earth. If the live wire of the appliance touches the case, a large current will flow to the Earth and blows the fuse in the live wire. In this way, the case is prevented from being 'live' and users are prevented from getting an electric shock.
