Quality
µ«~

Notes of the same frequency given by different musical instruments do not sound alike. We say that they have different quality, which depends on the waveform of a note.

Fundamental frequency, overtones and harmonics
Each note has a strong fundamental frequency, which determines the pitch of the note, and different numbers and amplitudes of overtones (or harmonics), the frequencies of which are the integral multiples of the fundamental frequency.
