Radiation is a process by which heat is transferred by electromagnetic waves, such as infra-red radiation. Light coloured or silvery objects are bad radiator and bad absorber of radiation. They reflect radiation away. However, dark coloured or dull objects are good radiator and good absorber of radiation.
Radiation can also refer to electromagnetic waves, such as X-ray and gamma ray, or a stream of particles, such as alpha particles and beta particles, emitted from a radioactive source or neutrons emitted from a nuclear reactor.
